Wiser has helped leading London based waste recycler, Edwards Recycling, to gain planning permission for a new Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in East London.

Edwards Recycling approached Wiser Environment to assist them in gaining planning permission for their new site in Dagenham Docks. Edwards Recycling is a family owned company that was first established on a site in Bow in 1966, then moved to their current location in Barking in 2004. Continued expansion of the business has meant that the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) operation at this site needed to move to larger premises. The new site will be developed to include a 75,000t MRF.

Wiser engaged with Planning Officers from the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham at an early stage to ensure that the subsequent application was comprehensive and covered any areas of local authority concern. Wiser then developed the required documentation and co-ordinated the production of the necessary specialist reports prior to submitting the application. The application received no objections from consultees and the permission was granted at the beginning of July 2016.

Simon Edwards, Operations Director, Edwards Recycling commented: “We were very pleased to secure permission for the new site in Dagenham Docks which will allow us to continue to expand our business. Wiser Environment provided sound advice on how to progress the application and navigate the planning system”.
