Based near Saffron Walden in North Essex, Carr & Bircher is a skip hire company and a major recycler of inert waste. Planning permission for their recycling facility and inert waste landfill site was due to expire in December 2013.
Carr & Bircher commissioned Wiser Environment to submit a planning application to extend the end date of the consent for twelve years. Wiser Environment wrote the planning application and supporting statements, determining the projected waste inputs into the site in order to justify the length of the extension requested. We also undertook a thorough review of planning policy; taking into account Essex’ local waste plan and the emerging development framework.
After extensive liaison with Essex County Council and a protracted application process, permission was given in February 2014.
